# Uber

> A governed, cloud-hosted coding agent built on Pi

Uber is a coding agent that a team deploys once and shares. It runs in the
cloud with one set of credentials and one set of rules:

* **Governed:** one [policy](/policy) decides every model call and tool call,
and risky actions wait for approval.
* **Recorded:** every step is in the execution history, so any run can be
inspected or [forked](/architecture#forks) from any step.
* **Isolated:** the agent can work in a [sandbox](/uber/sandboxes) that never
  holds a credential.
* **Durable:** sessions survive crashes and restarts, and anyone can pick one up from the
  terminal client.

Uber is built on [Pi](https://github.com/earendil-works/pi). It runs pi's own
session, with pi's system prompt, tools, compaction, and extensions, so it is
configured the way pi is.
